Judicial Commission approves appointment of Chief Justices for four High Courts

ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan, chaired by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, has approved the appointment of permanent Chief Justices for the high courts of Peshawar, Balochistan, Sindh, and Islamabad.

Justice Atiq Shah has been approved as Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court. Justice Sarfraz Dogar will serve as Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court. Justice Rozi Khan has been appointed Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court. Justice Junaid Ghaffar has been confirmed as Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court.

The commission has formally informed the Prime Minister and requested the completion of the appointment process under Article 175-A(8) of the Constitution.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, four Supreme Court judges, the Attorney General, government and opposition members, provincial law ministers, representatives of high court bars, and former judges. Ahsan Bhoon represented the Pakistan Bar Council, while Roshan Khursheed Bharucha attended as the National Assembly Speaker’s nominee.
